After All Singapore Stuff published a contributor's smackdown against the Ministry of National Development for its unilateral move to raise public carpark charges to global standards, MND staff responded to the contributor, trying to weasel their way out by justifying the rate hike.

MND staff responded that the figures provided by the contributor did not paint the full story. They cited financing, depreciation and overall operation expenses of carpark management and maintenance as costs which were not taken into account.
MND went further, citing that after taking into account all these costs, HDB and URA were unable to recover the full cost of parking and therefore justified the need for review of carpark charges.
Do you buy MND's explanation for the rise in carpark charges? Why does URA and HDB not reveal all these hidden costs to the public?
