Dear A.S.S,
I wish you could highlight this issue on your platform so that consumers who use SG Shop, an e-commence site acting as local Taobao agent, are aware of the following malpractices over consent of collecting personal data:
1) Storage of credit card details onsite (Name of cardholder, 16 digits card nos & expiry date)
They store the above details onsite and when u wish to top up ur account using the same credit card, u just need to key in the 3-digit CCV & the transaction will go through immediately. Requested them to remove my card details but was told they can't do so due to system limitation.
2) Request for termination of account was rejected as they reasoned that personal data will be safely guarded.
Tell me which legitimate e-commerce site will continue to store your credit card details & other personal data even when u explicitly asked to terminate your account with them.
As attached is a report I've filed with the Personal Data Protection Commission over the poor governance of SG Shop operating w/o any scant regards to the PDA act.
Hopefully, consumers will be savvy enough to understand how e-commerce sites are storing their personal data while shopping online.
