WHY DO WE HAVE TO PAY CASH WHEN MY DYING FATHER HAS $ IN HIS CPF?

My 76 years old father got a heart attacked last year (not because of the bill though). At the same time, he was diagnosed to have suffering with both kidneys failure. He is now going for kidney dialysis 3 times a week. Sometimes, for some reasons (ageing and etc), his vein would clog, and he has to do day surgery to expand the vein for the kidney dialysis. So far, my father had went through this surgery 3 times over a period of 18 months.

Recently, we got this bill from the NUH. We were asked to pay cash for the balance after deducted some amount from my father's medisave. NUH says we cannot use CPF money to pay the balance amount even though my father has enough in his mediasave account. We (children) also offered to pay through our CPF but were also denied.

So now my questions, isn't CPF our money? More so when the patient is already 76 years old and is unemployed. So now, can i tell the govt we have NO CASH to pay the bill? Are they going to send some debt collectors to my house? Denied my father for further treatment?

Anyone is facing similar situation?

Well, i was NOT the 70%!
