Dear All Singapore Stuff,
A mighty ang moh, Stefan Paul Afendoulis, 48, a former New Zealander who is now a Singapore permanent resident, attempted to strangle Singaporean teacher Mr Toh Peng Hwee in a fast-food restaurant two years ago. Stefan works as a company director.
On August 12, 2014, Stefan Afendoulis grabbed Mr Toh's neck and pushed him against a wall. Mr Toh was "throttled" at the neck which made it hard for him to breathe, causing him to be helpless against the attacker. The reason for the ang moh's savage attack was that the Singaporean, Mr Toh had accidentally bumped into him. There was a heated exchange of words and the ang moh released his hold on Mr Toh only after other people, including his wife told him to stop.
After his unprovoked act of violence, the Caucasian showed no remorse and arrogantly flaunted his wealth to the victim, saying that he could get a lawyer to defend him. He was fined $2500 and was ordered to pay $57 to Mr Toh as compensation. Under the law, he could have been jailed for up to two years' jail or fined $5000 for intentionally causing hurt to someone.
