Dear A.S.S. Editor
Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen said yesterday that Singapore will explore more training opportunities for SAF in New Zealand. He also said that this was an opportunity to strengthen relationships with like-minded countries like NZ, due to uncertain times now. He cited the US new president, Brexit, and rising powers like China and India as reasons why the times are changing now.
Was this just a smokescreen, and a silent agreement that Singapore need to look for other training places away from Taiwan after what happened to our Terrexes? Have we finally admitted defeat in this saga? Of course, they won't say it out loud, but the timing of the agreement with NZ seems mighty suspicious. Really like admitting we lost in the Terrex issue, and now it's time to find training places away from places where China say we can't be there.
Oh well, at least New Zealand also got huge training areas for our SAF personnel.
