Dear A.S.S. Editor
Seems like commuters with very young children who plan on travelling via comfort this CNY by taking private hire cars are in for a rude shock this time around. Due to a little known Road Traffic Act, it is illegal for private hire cars to carry passengers under 1.35m without a booster seat or a child restraint.
This means, your Grab and Uber driver have every right to reject you and your family if youa re carrying young children, because most Uber and Grab cars do not carry child seats. However, public service vehicles are exempted according to SG Police, so, forget about getting Grab or Uber.
This CNY, either take bus, MRT or just simply plain old taxi. Still can travel in comfort, and maybe the taxi uncles will have more income than expected this CNY. Not so good for those with kids though. Travel options just got reduced, thanks to the Traffic Road Act.
