I've just met up with one of my (straight) cousins over the holiday. Although we were close together while growing up, we drifted apart during NS. He was telling me about some of the more depraved parts of his sex life, involving infidelity (both him and the girl he was sleeping with), contracting an STD, and things which could be classified loosely as blackmail, among other things.
Thankfully, he told me that he's cleaned up his act, and will be getting married soon enough. It really makes me think...what gives straight people the right to make decisions about gay people's lives? I know gay couples who are committed to each other, and lead a more ""virtuous"" life that my cousin does. So why aren't they allowed to marry?
More importantly, I think this shows that sexual orientation has no bearing on or correlation to the type of lifestyle you lead. When a gay guy cheats or sleeps around, he's shamed and the issue is sensationalized. But when a straight guy does it, it gets swept under the carpet. I'm losing faith in humanity bit by bit.
