The mother and her boyfriend who abused 2 year old Mohamad Daniel Mohamad Nasser to death were sentenced to 11 and 10 years jail respectively. The boyfriend Zaini Jamari was also sentenced to 12 strokes of the cane for their heinous crime. Both Zaidah and Zaini were nonchalant and showed no remorse when the sentences were read out.

District Judge Bala Reddy called the harm inflected on the boy "ruthless and unrelenting" and that it was "simply incomprehensible" how a mother could carry out such abuse to her child.
Madam Masita Hussin who cared for Daniel before he was taken away by Zaidah broke down in Court and felt it was too short a sentence for such cruelty towards a young child. She said: "I cannot do anything. The judge has given his decision, but I hope for a longer sentence"
