LOCAL BANK JOB DRAWS DOZENS OF FT BANKERS. IS THIS A JOB S'POREANS WON'T DO?

$
0
0

I have always believe in the Singapore system. But recent events in this country suggest that we may no longer be operating on meritocracy anymore.

In actual fact it seems we have return to old British times where foreigners are busy snapping up jobs from all Singaporean locals, and the best salaries and good prospects are reserved for those born outside of this country.

I recently came across this job offer posted on LinkedIn by Hazel Thanh (foreign HR... GG liao). She asked for applications for a banking job.

Judging from the screenshots, guess how many locals applied for the job as compared to foreigners? Look at the responses and you'll know what I mean.

If you want to save Singapore, start by making the playing field level for Singaporeans. Invest in your people, raise wages for foreign employees who need work/employment visas, stop companies from looking for cheap labour from other countries by issuing a strict visa system, not just wayang with a worthless Job Bank website.

As our elected government, you earn our votes, not demand it.

MILK POWDER FOR ELDERLY TOO COSTLY, GVT SHOULD LOOK INTO THIS TOO

$

With regard to the prices of infant milk powder, I hope the Government can also look into reducing the prices of nutritional drinks for the elderly.

Many of the elderly may have difficulty eating nutritionally-sufficient meals because their swallowing muscles have weakened. Hence they need nutritional milk, such as from the Ensure brand, to get sufficient nutrition as part of their diet.

The cost per tin, however, can be high - around S$40 and above - so it would be appreciated if the appropriate body could look into this.

SDP SUPPORTS PETITION TO ALLOW SINGLE PARENTS TO BUY HDB FLAT, SUPPORT SINCE 2012

$

The SDP fully supports the Association of Women for Action and Research's (AWARE's) initiative calling on the government to allow single parents to register for HDB flats.

In fact, our party had drawn up a proposal in 2012 to increase the inclusiveness of public housing by enabling single-parent families to buy HDB flats.

In our 2012 policy paper titled Housing a Nation: Holistic Policies for Affordable Homes, we propose that parents who are not married should be able to ballot for HDB flats and single-parent families with children under 12 should be given priority in the ballots.

In order that equal opportunity be given for single parents and their children to succeed in life, it is imperative that they have a stable roof over their heads and a nurturing environment they can call home.

We, therefore, welcome AWARE's effort and petition “to reform housing policies to give single-parent families fairer access to stable, affordable housing.” Singaporeans can sign the petition here.

S'PORE JUST SHUT UP & STOP THE RACIAL CONTROVERSY, LEARN TO RESPECT ONE ANOTHER!

<Facebook post by Maya>

Omg Singaporeans, just shut up will you?! What's with the racial controversy lately? Started with ABTM audition and now its Bazaar? Did our forefathers dropped us on our heads when we were born? Is that why this generation doesnt know how to be sensitivity towards each other's culture and religion?

Dear Chinese,
Bazaar Ramadan (as per the name) is catered mainly for Muslims who are celebrating Ramadan followed by Eid. Work in the Bazaar and run your business for all we care but please do it the Halal way? If your products are not Halal then please get lost and do other Bazaars instead? You dont cb by selling non halal stuff at the Ramadan Bazaar. Be sensitive towards the occasion.

Dear Malays,
The Bazaar isn't only meant for you. Its a yearly tradition meant for ALL MUSLIMS (Chinese, Pinoi, Arab, Indian, Paki, etc). Its NOT a Malay thing. The word Ramadan doesnt belong to only you. Other religions are welcome too if they want to experience the Bazaar. Islam taught us to be kind to one another regardless of religion. Plus, without people from other religions visiting the Bazaar, your profits wont be as much. Think!!

Please respect, support & learn to understand one another. STICK TOGETHER morons, stick together. United we stand, divided we fall.

POPULAR HWZ FORUM MODERATOR FORCED TO STEP DOWN AFTER INSULTING PAP MINISTER AS SCUM

Dear All Singapore Stuff,

Kiwi8, a popular moderator at Hardwarezone forum was forced to step down after a rabid PAP supporter complained that he had referred to Minister Shanmugam as scum in the past.

The moderator bid a tearful goodbye to edmwers as he accepted the punishment. Some have wondered if this is part of greater censorship against netizens who do not have politically correct views.

Others wondered if his departure will spark another exodus to the EDMW XYZ forum which was formed last year by exiles from the Hardwarezone forum.

DRUNKS WHO TRASHED HENG LEONG TEOCHEW PORRIDGE STALL ARRESTED

$

Dear A.S.S. Editor

The police have arrested two men and one woman for wrecking the Heng Long Teochew Porridge, which is located along Upper Serangoon Road, on Tuesday. All three, who have not been named, are believed to be Singapore citizens, and were drunk. A fourth person, believed to be another man, is still at large.

They were caught on CCTV cameras wrecking the stall in the wee hours of Saturday. They had got into a tussle with staff over their $28 bill for a meal, which they said were too much. A detailed breakdown of the meal was given by the stall - $7 for discounted promfret, $7 for discounted duck, $1 for pickles, $4 for shrimp, $5 for minced meat, $2 for preserved vegetable, and $2 for four bowls of noodles.

It was not known how much they were charged for having drinks that made them all drunk and unable to control their emotions and actions upon being charged $28 for 4 people eating noodles. So now, instead of paying about $7 each for their late night meal, the jokers face fines and jail terms.

Serves them right for thinking that they could wreck other people's costly late night noodle stop.

NETIZEN: IF SG CHINESE WERE MADE TO SQUINT FOR A MOVIE ROLE, HOW WOULD YOU FEEL?

$

0

From the entire Shrey Bhargava saga, I only have these words for brainless Chinese who comment viciously and attacked him to ponder over.

People who comment heedlessly, let me give you a situation, Bring yourself away from Singapore where we Chinese are close minded.

Put yourself in the shoes that you're the minority in a country where X-race people are the majority. During one of the auditions for a film where you go for the audition, the director of X-race asked you to squint your eyes or ask the make up artist to apply make up so that your eyes becomes smaller thus you "will be more Chinese" and it will be funny because everyone will sure laugh about it.

How would you feel?

Talk is cheap, think first keyboard warriors. This is how Shrey felt when the director asked him to be "more Indian" by speaking in a heavier Indian accent so that it will be funny. I am sure Shrey does not mind if the director asked him to speak with a more Indian accent because the character he was playing speaks in a thick Indian accent/an Indian not born in Singapore. He was angry cos the director told him to be Indian by speaking in Indian accent so that Indians can be made fun of.

People need to see such behaviour as "othering". I do not entertain bigots who want to whack me left right and centre, this is not a debate but this is to give you an alternative of your narrow mindset.

Hope this clarifies.

Your local born and bred Singaporean Chinese

A netizen, Andrew Liew, caught a man and his friend shifting away a bike that belongs to one of his suppliers. The bike had been parked in an industrial estate shop front.

The owner of the bike had parked at the lot while he was conducting his business with his contractor. When he returned to the bike, he discovered that it had disappeared.

It was only after the contractor reviewed his CCTV footage of the car park lots in front of his store that he realized who had gone away with the bike.

According to the netizen, the men who had shifted the bike were from a neighboring store. When confronted with the evidence, the culprits became belligerent and called the police before finally revealing where they had hidden the bike.

STROKE ACCIDENT VICTIM SAVED BY FARRER PARK HOSPITAL STAFF

$

Dear A.S.S. Editor

A man who suffered a stroke while driving his car on the road, had his life saved by nurses from a near by hospital where he crashed his vehicle. A staff nurse from the hospital, named in reports as Farrer Park Hospital, was on his way home, when he saw a woman trying to revive a driver who had crashed his car against the railings near the Hospital.

He immediately activated the Code Pink, which is a standard operating protocol of the hospital to activate its personnel for emergencies in or around the hospital. The hospital emergency personnel arrived at the accident scene within five minutes with all of their medical equipment. The driver was stuck inside his car, as the driver side of the door was jammed shut against the railings. He was found foming at the mouth and vomiting. The nurses worked to ensure his airwaves are clear and monitored his heart rate until he can be extricated from his car.

The man was subsequently taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. No word on whether he is recovering from his injuries.

BEES ATTACKED SIMEI BLOCKS, TWO STUNG INCLUDING A TODDLER

$

Dear A.S.S. Editor

Two HDB blocks in Simei Street 1 came under the attack of hundreds of bees on Monday evening, resulting in two residents, including a toddler, to be stung. An eyewitness claims that she found bees in her kitchen when she was cooking dinner, and her daughter also informed her that bees can be found in their living room in their third storey flat.

Dead bees were found between the linkway of blocks 133 and 134, which overlooked Simei Park. Reports also indicated that dead bees can also be found in some homes. The toddler who was stung was living on a ninth floor unit, and had been taken to hospital. The other person who was stung, a woman, was in a house whose unit had about 100 bees that had flown in.

The police and the East Coast Town Council were informed. The first pest control team sent by the town council had apparently left early, as they had been stung too. A second team of pest control arrived at the estate around 12:30am. Investigations are ongoing.

PLASTIC PACKAGING FOR GARDENIA BREAD BOUGHT @ NTUC DISSOLVED?

My mum bought packet of wholemeal bread from Thomson Plaza NTUC few days ago.

After she bought back days later not even expired for the bread. The packaging started to discolored.

Do you know it's unhealthy to consume such bread with discolored packaging? Even you washed your hands? It's the packaging itself, that the color might even affect the bread inside.

I hope to alert everyone regarding this so that the public will be careful when they buy those breads.

INDONESIAN: S'POREANS', STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT YOUR PRIVILEGED LIVES

$

Singaporean keep on complaining. They should try being an indonesian

I am an indonesian living in singapore and i see alot of singaporean complaining about their life and the goverment

Maybe you should try living as an indonesian in indonesia. In indonesia, if you are not rich, u're screwed for life. Just think having a 10% a year interest on your mortgage. If you loan for 30 years that mean you will be paying for interest 300% of what you owe. Compare it with singapore 1 - 2% interest rate.

With a minimum salary of only 400 sgd a month, you can only dream of having a house in jakarta. A normal 1000 sqf of condo can easily cost 2 billion rupiah (220.000 sgd).

There is no hdb in indonesia. The only cheap housing provided by the goverment is onlu 210 sqf and it is on the VERY VERY outskirt are which can take 2 hours to get to work.

Dont even compare the public transportation. There are no decent and safe public transportation in jakarta. Everytime you take a bus of train, you are in high risk of mugging, pickpocket or sexual harrasment.

In singapore, safety is almost for everyone whether you are rich or poor. In indonesia if you are poor, then safety is not for you.

Singaporean should consider themselves privileged and lucky to be born in such a safe and stable country.

I purposely made a company in singapore, purposely pay insane amount of tax, purposely hired singaporean so i can stay in singapore. So i can raise my kids here. So i dont have to worry about my kids safety when they go to school.

MERCEDES DRIVER PARK @ MOTORBIKE LOT KENA FINE $50, WILL IT TEACH A GOOD LESSON?

Dear ASS,

Netizen Koh shared that a Mercedes-Benz driver illegal parked on motorcycle lots at Block 103A Rivervale Walk MSCP. The errant or newbie blur like f*ck driver got his just rewards when the saman auntie slapped him with a $50 fine for improper parking.

However, do you think this $50 fine will change the driver's behaviour and make him a better more responsible driver? For our sakes, we hope he does but chances are $50 aint gonna hurt him one bit.

This is the sad reality of living in Singapore where the ultra-rich rules the roost.

<Facebook post by Amesh Kumar>

Okay la. *clears throat* this post is for all you punde and cheebai and babi sialan. I am also one of them la. We all are la.

I am mildly racist. You are mildly racist la. Sometimes you manjens look at me like disgusting because of my beard I also get offended cuz I sensitive ah. So I say you bloody manjens under my breath: But then I go back home I see the mirror I also scared la, I thought Taliban or what...

Then sometimes I drive uber I give my Malay customer correct change but then he count wrong so he angry then I also angry la. Then after he leave i utter under my breath Malay cannot do math la. But then I check again in the uber app actually he got discount la. So he actually correct la.

Ah, then I see some macha at the coffee shop have tattoo sit down drink beer. Immediately I think they will go home beat their wives la. But I also wrong because I go closer actually one of the macha is my Cousin la. He very nice to his Wife la.

Ahh, then I see Ang moh fella he always want to Curi our singapore girls all la. I also not happy la. I say eh cannot like that la. But then I see their sisters on Facebook I straight away become nicer to them la. Cuz they all chio bu. White girl all quite exotic la, I like la.

But I tell you ah my friends... why this Shrey problem has become a problem my friends is because you guys are not standing up for him la. Ya maybe he a little bit soft la, North Indian all soft la because we cook the dhal also must soft soft that's why. But brothers and sisters, what makes this country great is not Lee Kuan Yew (God bless, rest in peace) la. Or PAP la. Or our law la. Or anything other than the people la. It is us la guys. We are what's great about our tiny city state. The people.

So guys, Malay, Chinese, Indian, Eurasian, Rojak, Nasi Lemak, Mee Pok, Briyani and others... whatever la. Let's show a bit more compassion la. Try to understand la abit more. It is not your fault that there are minorities. But there are la. And we also face some descrimination once in awhile la. True story la. But it is okay la because deep down we know it is not menacing or intentional. If not we have Little India riot part 2. But of course not la... because we know.

But brothers and sisters, try to understand that when you take away our right to call foul on certain subjects pertaining to our race and culture, all it does is fuels our frustration. I understand you have your own values and principles on what's right and wrong or what is racist or not. But we can all agree that when someone is hurt, we can emphatize la. That's all I am saying.

Don't need any witch hunt for the actor or the casting director but maybe instead we have a a civil conversation about what we can do to make people aware about race sensitivity la. Okay la. That's all la... besides capital punishment is still a bigger social problem here la guys. People are dying.
