MAN BARGES INTO OCCUPIED NURSING ROOM, IS THIS INVASION OF PRIVACY?

$
0
0

<Facebook complaint by Elzbth Yip>

Date: 29 May 2017
Time: Approx 740pm
Location: Changi Airport Terminal 3, nursing room next to Hello Kitty Cafe.

My husband and I were in the midst of changing my daughter's diaper when this man barge in. Intruding our privacy. The nursing room was not spacious and could only fit one family at a time. There was no lock and our pram was parked next to the door. This man, knowing the room was occupied and the pram was in the way, still opened the door, squeezed and barged in to fill up his flask with hot water. Hubby and I were not pleased about his inconsideration but we kept quiet. So be it.

When this man wanted to leave and our pram was still in his way to get out, he shook his head and gave a "dirty" look. I then told him that this is a nursing room. He raised his voice and barked it's meant for public use and he's not in the wrong. He dared us to call security, which I went to but there was none around. My husband shouted "security" loudly and the guy quickly left.

To be fair, if no one was using the nursing room and he went in to take hot water, that's fine. BUT we were not ok with the intrusion of privacy as we were changing our daughter's diaper. There were clear signs on the nursing room door and water dispenser. I've also lodged a police report with the APP for intrusion of privacy. But was told it may only be a blank report for record purpose as no offense was committed, i.e. The man did not take photos of my daughter, or the man did not tamper with the lock to enter the room.

As a parent, I'm definitely not ok with a stranger, some more this is a man we are talking about, barging in whilst changing my daughter's diaper. I'm bringing this up as I'm sure many other parents face this issue as well. And also to feedback to @Changi Airport to have locks installed at nursing rooms.
If this man is an airport staff, I hope the management @Changi Airport will take the necessary action.

*Edited to add that friends have pointed out of a Walkie talkie in the man's shirt pocket, so possibly an airport staff. He also had his phone camera faced out and we can't be sure of his intention either.*

WHISTLEBLOWER REVEALS UNHYGIENIC PRACTICES OF PASAR MALAM FOOD STALLS

$
0
0

I used to love to go to pasar malam, buying my favourite Ramly burger, takoyaki, kebabs, twisted fries, tea leaf eggs etc. But not anymore after I got to see what have been going on behind the scene.

Just nice the school holiday start almost the same time with the Hari Raya Bazar at Geylang Seria. My uncle asked me to help him out at his stalls selling drinks. I agree and was very excited because the thought of being able to eat pasar malam food made me drool. Somemore, I can get to earn some pocket money.

As the first day of the Bazaar is a weekend Friday, things already get to start very busy. I was very excited because I was surrounded with many stalls selling my favourite food. There are also a lot of new and interesting food and drinks I have never see before.

Whenever my uncle’s drink stall is less busy, I will take the opportunity to buy some of my favourite food from the nearby stalls to eat. At the same time, I also get to know these stall workers when I talk to them. I am surprise that many of them are not Singaporeans. I thought they are local Malays but they told me they are from Indonesia. Because I don’t speak malay or Indonesia language, I couldn’t find out more even though I was curious.

Although the Bazaar was busy and full of people in the weekends, my uncle’s drink stall business wasn’t as good as those selling fancy drinks. I have a lot of free time wandering around and watch the people and I saw many things that the Indonesians do at the stalls disgusted me. I am disgusted not because of their nationality or their race, but the way they store, make and cook the food. Most of them don’t use the plastic gloves to handle the food. I am OK with that because making roti prata also have to make with bare hands. But what really disgusted me are because they also do other things besides making and preparing the food, such as digging their nose, wiping their sweat from the head and use back the same hands to continue handle the food. There was one time I saw one of them just turn around, pinch his nose, and blow his mucus without a tissue paper. The mucus of course stick onto his fingers and all he did was to flick it off onto the floor behind and wiped his fingers on his t shirt and continue to make the takoyaki with the same hands. He thought no customer at his stall can see him do that, but I can see loh! I also ever see another one at the other stall while making the food, he quickly stuffed his whole hand into his Bermuda and then quickly take it out and continue making the food with the same hand. He must be adjusting his penis with that hand loh! He thought hand in hand out very fast nobody see and pretend he didn’t do that and continue making his ramly burger. WTF!?

When the news about a deng deng stall not using halal meat appear in facebook, I actually think that is nothing compared to those unhygienic things I have seen those Indoensians done.

There is also this one big stall not very far from my uncle’s drink stall, selling many kind of food. There was this man sitting at the back, preparing don’t know what food that are made to be deepfried. I cannot tell whether he is Singaporean Malay or Indonesia Malay but he has several small lumps on his face, neck and arms that look like some kind of skin disorder or disease. Most customers probably couldn’t see him as he was sitting on a small stool behind the stall making the food. Probably the stall owner knows that no customer would buy his food if that Indonesian man is make to cook the food or take orders from the customers. I am also very disgusted at the way some stalls keep or store the food before cooking them. Some food are kept in dirty looking pails. Some are kept in cardboard boxes on the wet floor, and i could see how the cardboard boxes absorb the dirty water on the floor which could contaminate the food inside loh!

Then on Tuesday afternoon, I suddenly hear some shouting from far. Everybody around me were wondering what happened. While I tiptoe higher to look into the direction, I heard some say MOM come already, also heard some say police come catch people. Suddenly the stall besides me become empty. I also saw some run and some just walk away from their stalls. Some customers who were about to buy things from their stalls also wondering what happened they just leave hurriedly. There were a lot of gassing on whether it was Police or MOM or MUiS or NEA. Some uncles who stay and didn’t run were cursing and swearing vulgar language. After that then I hear from them that these Indonesians are actually working here without any work permit.

It was only the next 1 or 2 days then I find out from the news that it was police, MOM and NEA join together to raid the stalls for unlicence food handlers. I think they should really conduct more raid like this as I am really feel disgusted by how these indoneasian store and make and cook the food.

INSULTING A PUBLIC OFFICER LANDS MAN IN TROUBLE, FINED FOR HIS VERBAL ABUSE

Dear A.S.S. Editor

Nowadays, a lot of people always think they are in the right in anything, and would not think twice about scolding or insulting someone else. These people often think they can get away with it.

This was the case with Chan Kong Thoe, 56, who never thought of the consequences of his action. When pressed for details by a public officer on how he had used up $147,538 in retirement funds within five months, Chan, who was a ComCare applicant, passed a snide remark that humiliated a public officer ans insulted her modesty. He also showed further disrespect when calling the officer a "low class officer".

For using insulting words towards a public service officer, Chan was charged and found guilty. He now have to cough up a $3,000 fine.

This case shows that even with verbal abuse, the courts can come down hard on you. Totally not worth to be fined over insulting someone with just words.

FOURTH PORRIDGE EATERY WRECKER ARRESTED

Dear A.S.S. Editor

The fourth Person involved in wrecking the porridge eatery at Upper Serangoon Road has been arrested, according to police reports. The 48 year old man, who has not been named, was arrested on Thursday.

Three others had earlier been arrested. Pang Pei Pei, 40 and Tan Sun Meng, 46 were charged in court on Wednesday, while Ang Sin Poh is still being investigated. With the arrest of the fourth man, the drunkards who rampaged against the eatery are now all in police custody.

So what was a night of supper, turned into a night of drunken rage over a $28 bill, and now for the the four, will probably turn into a night they will regret for the rest of their lives.

Porridge eateries in Singapore can breathe a huge sigh of relief after their arrest

NOISE POLLUTION @ SIN MING DUE TO MADE-IN-CHINA BUSES

$

I refer to the article on channel news Asia that buses are causing din and noise pollution to residents living in the vicinity of Ai Tong School and I would like to comment on it as well as I am a resident living nearby.

The reason of such noise pollution from these private buses is because of cheapskate bus Operators/owners buying cheap China buses and not maintaining it well. These China buses and trucks are notorious for having loud growling engines. Even those old SBS Volvo buses engines are much more quieter than these new China buses.

There was once I was walking on the along streets talking on the phone in JB, then when a China bus sped past, the growling sound was so loud and their black smoke emitted was terrible.

I urge the LTA and NEA to take actions against bus Operators who purchase China buses in bulk and order them to scrap these China buses and encourage them to change to Japnese or continental ones, and also penalise bus owners who don't maintain their buses well.

Seriously, these China buses are causing too much noise pollution, even I live so far away from the road on the highest floor and I can still hear these Chinese buses and truck growling engines. Please share and tag the authorities.

Thank you.

RESERVED PRESIDENCY IS CONDESCENDING, SHOWS MALAYS ARE "USED ONLY WHEN NEEDED"

$

Im not that fired up on the upcoming Presidential Election. I know some of my friends are grateful that we now can have a Malay President after 50 years. We now can see photos of a Malay President and a Malay First Lady in every government buildings. Let's not miss the forest for the trees.

There are fundamental issues that need to be addressed with regards to reserving the presidential election for Malay candidates.

1. This gov has put out of reach the aspirations of Singaporeans from being the president. It has implemented some strict conditions where most probably only the top 1% of the population is eligible, perpetuating an elitist society
2. It has made changes to the President's role that there is not much the president can decide on its own discretion. Council of Presidential Advisers (CPA) can override the President. Parliament can override the President. President to consult CPA. In the end, the President is a 'lame-duck'
3. Reserving this presidential election for Malay candidates posed a few problems. It gives out the notion that the Malays cannot stand on its own merits and win the election fair and square.
It is condescending and reek of tokenism when at the same breadth, minorities are not allowed to assume the position of Prime Minister
4. It goes against the grain of meritocracy. It places the Malay community as a pawn in a chess game. To be used only when needed.
If the above points cannot be seen by those rejoicing for joy on the prospect of getting a Malay President, then as a whole, we deserve to be minions.

MUJI PULLS MOULDY APPLE & GRAPE JUICE FROM THEIR STORES

Dear A.S.S. Editor

Seems like Singapore have been hit with many things found in food where they are not supposed to be. The latest to be hit is the Japanese chain Muji, who have announced that they are pulling all their product "Apple & Grape Fruit Juice" voluntarily after mould were found in some of the juice.

In a media statement, AVA announced that all the products have been removed from Muji stores, and urged anyone who has bought the drink to not consume it. They are requested instead to bring the drink to the nearest Muji store or call their customer service hotline to get a refund for their purchase.

It was not announced what caused the mould in the drinks.

TAMPINES RESIDENT: TOWN COUNCIL REFUSE TO ADDRESS MY LEAKING ROOF, 4 MONTHS ALREADY!

I am losing patience with Tampines Town Council over this issue. I first called TC the week before Chinese New Year to report on the water leakage in my unit's living room (I live on the top floor). There has been an inspection but no follow up so I do not know if there is any work done to rectify the leaky roof.

Then I called on 28 Apr to report leaking roof again and was told will get contractor to come down but no action taken. I have called 3 more times after since and was always told someone will call me back but no one called.

Tonight there is a super heavy rain, even the corridor is raining indoors. There is water leaking from the electric wire casing. Wouldnt that be a safety hazard?! Please do something about this. The water leak is also ruining my wall and floor. Should I bill the TC for any damage?

They keep passing the buck around to contractors and with the recent Home Improvement Project on-going in my block, the leaking issue seems to be ignored.

MORE ILLEGAL WORKERS ARE EXPECTED TO BE ARRESTED AT GEYLANG BAZAAR

$

Dear A.S.S. Editor

MP for Marine Parade GRC, Dr Fatimah Lateef, said that in the wake of the arrests of illegal Indonesian workers at the Geylang Ramadan bazaar, there will likely be more arrests made. According to the MP, she would not be surprised if more people were caught for being illegal workers there, as she had seen many foreign workers frequenting the bazaar lately.

She also reiterated that if these workers were found to be working illegally, they should be arrested immediately. She also said that the arrests of foreign workers working illegally in the Geylang Bazaar is not something new, as this had been going on in previous year's bazaar too. She also revealed that a special task force was set up a long time ago to check the status of foreign workers in the Geylang Bazaar.

No numbers of how many arrests were made in the years before were revealed.

BEWARE, ABBOTT MILK FROM NTUC TASTES WEIRD & CAUSED MY GIRL TO HAVE STOMACHACHE

Both my kids have been drinking Abbott's milk since they were a month old. It's the first time we had this bad experience and I had to bring this to every parent's attention! This affects every child who is drinking Abbott's milk! I would not hesitate to send the milk to the laboratory for test to prove that the milk is not suitable for consumption!

My boy and girl each took a packet of milk and wanted to drink it before bedtime. My girl mentioned the milk has a lemon taste but her brother's milk tasted sweet. My girl had a tummy ache. I took the milk from her and had a sip. It tasted horrible and sour!

We purchased the unopened milk from ntuc supermarket. The expiry date is 10 Dec 2017! There is some numbers on the packet which I believed is the batch number! Please check all the milk!

My girl is 8 years old so she can differentiate sweet and sour but not young children! This might pose a threat to the health of the other children! Please look into it as soon!

GRABHITCH DOESN'T SCREEN DRIVERS, SOME OF THEM ARE PERVERTED & UNRULY

$

Dear Editors

I am referring to a complain made by a Grabhitch rider that she got molested by a Grabhitch driver and would like to advice riders to stop riding Grabhitch and RYDE. I am neither a private hire car driver nor a taxi driver, but an ex Grabhitch rider.

Reason being is very simple, with the implementation of checks, screening and training required for all private hire car and taxi drivers, Grabhitch drivers need not go through all these procedures. In case people out there still think that Grabhitch and RYDE are similar to GrabCar or uber, they are totally different. To be a Grabhitch or RYDE driver, one just need to go to their respective websites to register with their cars and they are allowed to hitch someone along their way to their destination.

And so, any Tom, Dick or Harry can just do Grabhitch so long as he/she has a car! And mind you, their cars aren't properly covered by commercial insurance is because our authorities didn't want these lerosnal car owners to use this as an income opportunity as they do not need to covert their insurance, going for checks and screenings and also training so their ought to be many of such nonsensical drivers out there! Mind you, you are in a car not in a train or bus where there are so many people looking.

I took Grabhitch once and that's my last ride ever, not only the driver came to pick me up with a different car, but he is a pervert and keep on asking me and talk big about disgusting stuff and even attempted to touch me! I have made a police report about such unruly behaviour and now nothing gets done yet. So I would suggest all to stop riding on Grabhitch, drivers who are not trained shouldn't be out there even hitching passengers!

Please avoid at all cost, it not worth the 50% lower fares with all these problems and risk one have to take.

MEDIACORP CONCERNED AND INVESTIGATING JIN YINJI CONTRACT ISSUE

$

Dear A.S.S. Editor

Mediacorp has reacted to reports carried yesterday on the shambles that was the contract negotiation between them and the 70 year old actress, Jin Yinji. Mediacorp issued a statement saying that they are gravely concerned about the reports of how they conducted the contract negotiations, and they are investigating.

Reports yesterday indicated that Jin was asked to take a pay cut of two-thirds or more, and she also recalled a conversation in which she was told the company would rather hire a $50-an-hour bit player. Mediacorp confirmed they have reached out to Jin to understand and address the issue, although they cannot go into details as contract negotiations are confidential. Jin has also been given parts in two new upcoming Channel 8 drama.

It's funny that Mediacorp are investigating themselves over the contract negotiations saga, and the supposed remarks made to her. Wonder if this would even happen if the issue was not widely publicised. Can only hope this will end wit a positive outcome to all involved.

ANGMOH BOY STUCK HIS HEAD OUT OF CLOSING TRAIN DOOR, ARGUED WITH UNCLE WHO TOLD HIM IT'S DANGEROUS

<Reader Contribution>

I was on the north south line(red line) and at Yishun when a group of international student(secondary) board the train. And when the train door is about to close, one student(not sure what his intention was, probably to test the sensitivity of the train door) decided to pop his head out of the train. Despite his friends tried to stop him, he insisted putting his head out till his friends forcefully pull him back. He is pictured carrying a grey bag.

An Uncle reprimanded him after that, and he wasn't apologetic at all. Instead he argued rudely and sacarstically. This is such inconsiderate behaviour which might affect all the commuters. Due to his silly actions, it might lead to a train delay for all the commuters.

Not sure what school is this but hopefully the school is able to take disciplinary actions for this students.

FAS: JACKPOT MONEY SHOULD BE CHANNELED BACK INTO FOOTBALL

$

Dear A.S.S. Editor

After the saga of the FAS and Tiong Bahru jackpot money and donation to the AFC have somewhat died down a bit, the new FAS council are now working to ensure that all jackpot money gleamed from clubhosues must be channeled back into the football club and football activities.

Funny how all these years of having professional football clubs, supposedly run like a business, and running jackpot machines at their clubhouse as a surefire way to make more money, yet they always complain of lack of funds. In fact, based on the Tiong Bahru saga, it seemed that they made $36.8million out of the jackpot machines! Their revenue higher than the FAS budget of last year. Even after subtracting all the taxes and money being put back in jackpot winnings, the income still amounted to $5m. And all these while, these S.League clubs are complaining about having a tight budget!

The money is right there under their noses. Just that they were not channeled back into football. So, whatever happened to the income generated? And only now FAS realised they should channel jackpot earnings back to the football? Professional run clubs and association, they are not.

ANOTHER CAR CATCHES FIRE AFTER ACCIDENT WITH TIPPER TRUCK

Dear A.S.S. Editor

Singapore is really getting all kinds of fires happening lately. Hosue fire, building fire, car fire. Today, a car caught fire along Clementi Road. SCDF said they were alerted to the incident at 1:07pm today. No one was reportedly injured in the accident.

Media reports indicated that it was a grey Mitsubishi car that caught fire at the junction of Clementi Road and Clementi Avenue 2. It was understood that the car collided with a tipper truck before it caught fire. The fire involved the engine compartment of the car.

Seriously, what is happening in Singapore. Now it seems any accident where a collision occurs, a car might catch fire easily.

2 POLICE OFFICERS HURT IN ACCIDENT INVOLVING CAR THAT SPED OFF FROM ROAD BLOCK

Dear A.S.S. Editor

Just a day after a traffic police officer tragically lost his life in an accident while on duty, another two police officers were taken to hospital after an accident following a car chase with a vehicle that evaded a road block. The accident happened in the early hours of Friday morning.

The man driving the car, a 43 year old man whose name was not released by the police, was stopped at a road block along Mackenzie Road, but he had refused to comply with a police officer's instructions. He subsequently sped off and in the ensuing pursuit, the police car and the man's car was involved in an accident at Normanton Road. This resulted in the police car smashed into a flight of stairs. Two officers were taken to NUH, but it is understood that their injuries are minor.

The car driver and his 34-year-old female passenger were subsequently arrested for drug and traffic-related offences, the police said. Police investigations are currently still ongoing.

FOREIGNERS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO DRIVE HEAVY VEHICLES

$
0
0

Dear editors,

In response to the serious accident that happen along AYE near Benoi, I think it's time for the LTA and Traffic police to adopt the following measures:

1. Ban foreigners from driving commercial vehicles, make Singapore commercial vehicles companies come out with good welfare and pay structures.

2. Install a tamper proof speed limiter on all commercial vehicles and that the speed limiter must be sealed with tampered prof seal and sealing sticker and place at a visible position and traffic police and LTA wardens must be trained to differentiate a working and a tampered one. If a commercial vehicle is found to exceed speed limit, impound the vehicle straightaway and do a forensic test on the speed limiter to determine who is the culprit tampering with it and charge the culprit with an offence either culpable attempted homicide or attempted manslaughter/murder.

3. Install a track if device on all commercial vehicles and pegged to the Traffic police systems so that all vehicle movement and driver's actions will be tracked thoroughly, if any mistakes if found, remedial action can be taken immediately.

4. Stop the import of commercial vehicles with turbo engines and high torque/ horsepower. These vehicles are able of going beyond speed limits and order current vehicle owner with such vehicles to scrap and replace them immediately, or modified the engines so that the turbo can be removed.

With all these suggestions, it will definitively improve driving habits and discipline on heavy vehicle drivers. Banning the vehicles or restricting them thoroughly is not going to solve the problem.
