DOG LEFT BY ITSELF IN CAR UNDER THE HOT SUN

Dear A.S.S,

I wish to share this to raise awareness.

As we all know, it has been very hot in Singapore. My friend sent me this picture of a dog left by itself in a car. Even thought the windows are slightly lowered, we all know that it is always hotter inside a car.

The person who took the photos left after waiting for a few minutes. When he left, the dog was still doing okay.

To all pet owners, pls don't leave your pets in a car. You wldn't do this to yourself. Don't do this to your pet.

BREADTALK SOLD MY FRIEND EXPIRED ORANGE JUICE

This happened a few days ago. My friend bought orange juice from BreadTalk at ChinaTown Point.

After we had left, she turned to the back of the bottle and realised that the juice had already expired.

I hope BreadTalk will train their staff to pay more attention to the expiry dates of their products.

What if a parent had given the expired juice it to a child?

I was at Waterway Point when a passerby commented. "So cute. A Chinese kid, an Indian kid and a Malay kid playing together.". To which I replied, "I only see 3 Singaporean kids playing with one another.".

She just smiled and walked away...

UNETHICAL TIGERAIR REFUSE TO ADMIT DELAYS, CAUSE INSURANCE CLAIMS DRAMA

Dear ASS,

i just took a tigerair flight back from bali which was delayed more than 6 hours and and they are claiming flat out that it is less than 6 hours even though there is proof of this. i'm unable to claim insurance becos of this since they are refusing to write a letter of documentation to my insurance

the point is not about the money = only about 100$. the point is that tigerair is just taking me and other people out there for a ride without being responsible for it.

my flight is TR2289. i touched down at 4.03am. the original flight time is 7pm Bali from denpasar. the flight time is only 225hrs tops which means that i took off at around 130am bali time but they claim that the flight took off at 1210am bali time tigerair claims therefore flight delay only 5 hour 10 mins when in fact, it's 130am - 7pm= 630hrs delay anything more than 6 hours delay; i can then claim insurance sending over my boarding pass

PARKING CIBAI ILLEGAL PARK IN DISABLED PARKING, HANDICAP DRIVER STRUGGLES

<Facebook complaint by Alan Chong>

About an hour and a half ago, outside Yishun Central SingPost. Not only did the driver of SJT5426Z parked in reserved lots for handicap drivers, he must occupy TWO handicap parking lots!

The car behind him came as I was taking photos, driven by a handicap driver with a Blue label. It hurts me to watch the handicap driver struggle to park into the remaining half a lot, turning the steering wheel over and over, bending his body, twisting his head in discomfort while he tries to park in a lot he has the privilege to park in.

If that's not bad enough, SJT5426Z's rear end sticks out of the lots, and was causing inconvenience to passing cars. Trucks had to maneuver around it. SJT5426Z, you champion!

CREEPY MAN STALKED CHIO LADY & HER BABY IN TIONG BAHRU PLAZA, SCARED THEM BADLY

$

<Facebook post by Charmaine Kuah>

WEIRD CHINESE GUY STALKING ME & MY SON. Yes i have reported to the police.

Why a lot of weird things happening to me lately. After i picked my son up from infant care, we went to Tiong Bahru Plaza as he's fussing for milk already. I hurriedly went to the nursing room right beside Kopitiam level 3 & started to nurse him. After nursing him, i took out my pump to express milk. While expressing milk, there was a knock on the nursing room door, then a man's voice. I not too sure what did he say, but when i answered, "yes?" He walked away. I thought nothing of it, just weird to have a guy knocking & didn't say things like "my baby need the room" or whatever, just simply walked away.

So after i was done with my stuffs. I packed up & put Z back into his pram. I wanted to go to the Popular book store to get non toxic paint for Z as i want to make a bookmark out of his handprint. When i left the nursing room, & walked out towards Popular, this guy was waiting outside the Kopitiam, near the toilet, looking at us, but yeah, I thought maybe just looking at Z or looking out for someone that suppose to come out of the toilet, etc. So we continued & i thought nothing about it. So i went to look for the non toxic paint, which sadly, Popular didn't have, i asked the staff to help me look for it. Went on to find a nice book to write stuffs.

When i am looking at the book, flipping & everything. Suddenly this man, stood beside me, started to flip through books too. But stood very closely to me. After all it's a bookshop. Of course people will look at the same thing as you right?? WRONG! I looked up, as i had the uneasy feeling of someone looking at me. That man that was outside looking at us right beside me! I was shocked. Just nice, the staff came over & told me they didn't have non toxic paint, but have non toxic crayons & colour pencils, i took the crayons & thanked her, she left, & I quickly took the book i needed, & walk to another aisle.

I went to a file aisle, pretending to look at files. & there he is! Again! After that i walked to the kids' aisle, where all the kids' toys, books are, & he came too! Right behind Z! I took out my phone & told Z loudly, "Lets selfie & send to Daddy okay?" I took a picture of Z & the man standing directly behind Z's pram. Then i walked away, & decided to take a video. I set on video mode, place in Z's pram, pretending that Z is watch video & walked around. From the SS, you can see the man repeatedly looked at us, & video he was obviously following us wherever we went! Seriously creepy.

After the video ended, i announced loudly that we're going to pay money & head home to Z. Then i went to the counter & paid for my items. I took a blur photo of him standing somewhere he can see me, pretending to read a book. I turned & told the staff that someone was following me, & told her to help me look out if the man in blue, wearing specs followed me out when i leave the shop. Which, he did! I ran to the other side where Nail Palace is, & hide behind the escalator, i saw him speed walking out of Popular & looking around, left right & then straight at me! I quickly take a step back to hide behind the escalator, but when i saw him walking towards us, i quickly walked the other direction & back to the outside of Popular. He saw me staring at him,i guess he knew that i already noticed him, & he quickly ran into the toilet area. I think there have a lift out, he might have ran away from there.

I was so scared that i was shaken badly. I reported it to the guard & they advised me what to do & i also reported to the police. They told me that maybe because i wore sleeveless that was why the man attracted to me & kept following me. I was wearing a romper for god's sake. I kept feeling that the man have been following me all the way back home, i kept looking back. Luckily he really didn't follow, or else. I really don't know what i will do. The most scariest people in the world are the mad ones, they have nothing to lose.

WOMAN SUFFERS ACUTE PAINS FROM OVERIAN CYST, GOVT HOSPITALS TOLD HER TO WAIT 2 MONTHS

$

Dear ASS Editors,

My experience at Singapore General Hospital (SGH) & KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH)

My ordeal started on 6 May 8.30am, I went to Bukit Merah Polyclinic with an acute pain on the left side of my lower abdominal and was quickly assisted to the emergency room and given a jab of pain killer. BMP called for an ambulance and I was sent off to SGH at Abt 8.45am.

At A&E department of SGH, I was registered and had my blood, urine and X-RAY tests aroud noon but results showed nothing positive. So a gynaecologist, Dr Ng Yan Shun was asked to exam me. He attended to me at 6.30pm and we went thru series of examination including speculum, finger & transvaginal scan. Dr Ng said nothing was conclusive and he was sure my pain was not related to any gynaelogical issues but more bowel related issues. He then ordered an ultra sound, which could only be done 2 months later on 5 July and I was sent home with a bag of pain killers (generic panadol).

On the 7th May, after eating my breakfast, the pain reocurred and I took 2 panadols given by SGH but the pain intensified and there was numbness around my upper left area. I went back to SGH A&E at 11.30am only to be told I have to pay A&E Fees again since my check in time yesterday was 9am,which was almost 9 hours wait to see a gynecologist. I was not willing to wait again at SGH and proceeded to Raffles hospital (RH) A&E.

Raffles Hospital for private ultra-sound

At RH, I was immediately given a jab of pain killers and advised to do an ultra sound, (as per SGH’s proposal my ultra sound is two months’ away). During the one hour ultrasound, the radiologist saw a huge mass next to my left ovary. The mass is 10.5 x 9 x 6cm and must be removed.

This cyst was not detected by the doctor at SGH

A MRI is required to further confirm what the mass could be so I ask RH to refer me to KK Women's and Children's Hospital, which is a government hospital and thus is subsidized by my Medishealh.

KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH)

At KKH, I was admitted but was told that MRI will not be available in the weekend and I would only be provided with pain management until Monday. On Monday 9th May, I was told the earliest MRI could only be on Thursday but I told them that I m in extreme pain, with spottings and numbness on my thigh so KKH manage to do the emergency MRI at 1.30pm on Monday.

The doctor at KKH confirmed the MRI results and my growth is Endometriosis and for its size I have to do a open operation instead of key hole. After explaining the complications, again I was discharged and the hospital scheduled my operation for 2 weeks later on the 23rd May. Even with extreme pain (which persisted even with pain killers), bleeding (light spottings) and numbness, I was told that's the earliest date for surgery since the surgeon in KKH only works on Monday and operation theatre are fully booked.

I was sent home again with another bag of pain killers.....

My qns for the Singapore medical system...
1. if a patient comes in via ambulance complaining of pain, how could A&E make them wait 9hrs before seeing the related Doctor? In such a big hospital and high patient flow, how is it possible to have only ONE doctor on call for emergency cases? And at KKH, operation in such cases only happens on Monday?

2. If a patient were given high doses of painkiller by injection or medication, how could they expect the patient to determine the intensity of the pain in emergency cases?

3. What happens if I delay 2mth later to get my ultrasound at SGH? What if my cyst rupture due to the size and went undetected?

Just because government hospitals are subsidized doesn't mean they can take people's life lightly? Long waiting hours... And haphazard treatments or checks? And go home with 2 big bags of painkillers till we meet again... I try to survive on that 2 bags of painkillers and not rupture my cyst before my operation 2 weeks later...

3 POLICEMEN SURROUND HANDICAP TISSUE SELLER, WHY SO HARSH & DENY A SIMPLE LIVING?

$

Hi ASS,

I would like to highlight to you this incident where I saw a few police officers were surrounding this handicapped auntie and a younger girl who might possibly be mentally challenged making a living selling tissues. I have always walked past them and usually they don't harrass people to buy and the auntie will just park her wheelchair in one corner and sell tissues. It is already tough for the handicapped and disabled to find employment as a normal person and the government doesn't provide sufficient welfare.

Why does the police still need to be so harsh by even attempting to deny them of this one and only channel to earn a living? I feel that the police should take a step back when it comes to this. Shouldn't the police be spending more time and effort on solving crimes and catching criminals instead of going around chasing away the mentally challenged and the disabled? Where is the compassion in Singapore? Please help to publish this to create some awareness. Thank you.

PINOY STUDENT COMPLAINS SG EDUCATION SYSTEM IS UNFAIR, BIASED TOWARD LOCALS WITH WORSE RESULTS

Dear All Singapore Stuff,

Please see the screenshots attached.

This Pinay Singapore permanent resident, Marianne Beltran, said that it is very unfair that Singapore has quotas on the number of foreigners who are admitted into Singapore's local universities. She claimed that it is not meritocratic and she feels frustrated when she sees less capable Singaporeans get into the course she wants. She made these comments on the hardwarezone forum, using the account "bestification03@gmail.com". She wants Singaporeans to know that they should not be ignorant to other peoples' woes just because they are benefiting from an unfair system.

Netizens were able to CSI the Pinay and found that she had been studying in Singapore from young and she graduated from Serangoon JC in 2014. Her facebook is here: https://www.facebook.com/marianne.beltran.14

Is this pinay demanding too much from Singapore? Isn't it enough that our government has given her a house and an education?

It is not Singaporeans' fault that she did not meet the university admission criteria for the course she wants.

Perhaps the pinay should work harder instead of complaining about how unfair the Singapore system is.

GAIN CITY MISSED APPOINMENT, TOOK 7 WEEKS TO FIX MY AIRCON

$

Dear A.S.S,

Gain City has the worst service standards and are not apologetic about it.

It took me over 7 weeks for Gain City to solve my aircon problem. I only went to them ONLY because I have a servicing contract with them. Despite this, their service really sucks.( NO more after this!)

In mid March, I complained that the aircon was not cold. Was told that a gas pressure test is required . This took 2 weeks for a date to be given. Seems that only one team to service all over singapore for this test. OK fine.

After testing, claimed pipe leaking. No report, no nothing. OK Fine.

Then gave me another date 2 weeks later for sales team to come down and provide quote. By now already in mid April . On said date, nobody turned up. I called and they claimed no appointment but after checking again, found the appointment. They then told me the cost ( now no need to go down to view so wasted my time waiting! Seems odd that they cant find appointment but can give quote when earlier they said only sales team can quote) . I had to wait another 2 weeks for repair- they could not prioritise even after acknowledging they were at fault for missing appt- so they don't care even if they made a mistake. So altogether over 7 weeks - completed in MAY.

This is not the only issue. I had to speak to 4 different customer service staff .When I asked to speak to someone senior- cannot. When I wanted to complain about poor sevice, they said write in. When I wrote in- guess what? NOBODY replied but they auto acknowledge receipt of my complaint. Up to today, over one month after my written complaint, no call.

DO NOT SUPPORT THEM. THEY ARE IRRESPONSIBLE AND HAVE NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. Gain city has forced me to use other avenues to air my complaints because they are either too lazy or too egotistic to respond to their customer.

This is a company that is wasting their money advertising their great brand- this is really false advertising.

I WILL NEVER EVER BUY THEIR PRODUCT OR USE THE SERVICE AGAIN. And it seems I am not the only one with a problem with this company.

HUMAN RIGHT LAWYER: S'PORE HAS SECURITY BUT AT WHAT COST TO OUR PRIVACY & FREEDOMS?

$
0
0

Had a fruitful panel discussion in Bangkok this afternoon organized by the International Commission of Jurists ( ICJ). The panel discussion is part of a 2 day Annual ASEAN Lawyers Meeting on Countering Terrorism and Protecting Human Rights.

I was slated to speak on Counter Terrorism, National Security and the right to privacy in Singapore.

I started with a quote by the law minister where he alluded to an ideological struggle between freedom and terror; stating, " we must believe that we can never be kept down by terror. Liberty, the human spirit will ultimately succeed. But we have to be prepared to fight for it."

Really?

We pause here : " experience teaches us to be most on guard to protect Liberty when the government's purposes are beneficent"

- Justice Louis D.Brandeis

The impunity in which the ISA was applied to political detainees does give rise to concern when the same law is applied to terrorists where there is detention without trial and judicial review is excluded by the courts. I presented to ICJ a copy of the recent book by Dr Poh Soo Kai who was detained under the ISA for more than a decade. It was heartening note from the speech by Malaysian lawyer Andrew Khoo, that Malaysia has abolished the ISA!

The crux of my presentation is on privacy law and national security. When I started my preparation for my talk, I realised that there is a dearth of literature on this subject in the context of Singapore. However, I found some useful notes from Privacy International.

Comparatively speaking, the interpretation to the right to privacy in Singapore has been narrow for quite some time. Singapore does not have a constitutionally recognized right to privacy, nor is it explicitly specified in any human rights type of legislation. Again, I was pleasantly surprised to hear from a lawyer from the Philippines that Philippines has a right to privacy since 1899!

There are two areas of concern on the right to privacy in Singapore :
a. Communications Surveillance and
b. Data retention

Communications Surveillance

The surveillance structure spreads wide from CCTV, drones, Internet monitoring, access to communication data, mandatory SIM card registration, identification required for registration to certain website , to the use of big analytics for governance initiatives including traffic monitoring .

These practices raise significant concerns in light of the fact that the legal framework regulating interception of communication falls short of applicable international human rights standards. Judicial authorization is completely sidelined. The law through various pieces of legislation including the Criminal Procedure Code(amended in 2012) and the Computer Misuse and Cybersecurity Act (amended in 1997), does not impose a need for prior judicial authorization to conduct surveillance operation. Authorization can only be given by the Public prosecutor, Minister and police officer.

The lack of a requirement for a judicial warrant for communication interception is rather disconcerting. Such authorizations must be delivered by judges, and not politicians. Ministerial authorization must be removed and be replaced with an independent judicial authorization process in order to make the process more transparent and accountable. In fact, I learnt from the Thai panelist that in Thailand the state agency has to apply to court for a judicial warrant for surveillance. Isn't it ironical that Thailand is under military rule and yet has a better protection of due process than Singapore when it comes to issues of privacy.

The following are some of the incidents of unwarranted access to communication data.

1999 : Singtel was revealed to have scanned it's customer's computers surreptitiously following orders it has received from the Ministry of Home Affairs;
2008 : ISPs were forced to disclose the personal details of its subscribers it held in a lawsuit involving copyright infringement, i.e.in the case of Odex;

In 2013, when the amendments to the Computer Misuse Act were being discussed, several MP's raised the need to increase accountability and appropriate checks and balances in view of the more enormous powers and wide discretion the Bill confers on the Government to affect measures and obtain data from private companies.Unfortunately, none of these suggestions were adopted in the amended Act.

Limits on anonymity is a cause for concern as well .

On 1 November 2005, a pre - paid SIM card regulatory regime came into force. This emerged from a joint initiative by the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA), the Ministry of Home Affairs together with mobile service providers. In order to buy a SIM card, a new user must provide a piece of identification.

SIM registration undermines the ability of users to communicate anonymously and disproportionately disadvantages the most marginalized groups. Mandatory SIM card registration facilitates the establishment of extensive databases of user information, eradicating the potential for anonymity of communications, enabling location -tracking, and simplifying communications surveillance

As recently noted by the UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression, in a report presented at the 29th Session of the Human Rights Council, “encryption and anonymity, and the security concepts behind them, provide the privacy and security necessary for the exercise of the right to freedom of opinion and expression in the digital age.” He added that because of their importance to these rights “restrictions on encryption and anonymity must be strictly limited according to principles of legality, necessity, proportionality and legitimacy in objective.”

• Expansive surveillance capabilities

• In 2013, Citizen Lab of the University of Toronto found evidence that a product “PacketShaper”, produced by BlueCoat23 Systems, a US-based company, is in use in Singapore. Blue Coat allows the surveillance and monitoring of users’ interactions on various applications such as Facebook, Twitter, Google Mail, and Skype.

• Also in 2013, Citizen Lab found command and control servers for FinSpy backdoors, part of Gamma International’s FinFisher “remote monitoring solution,” in a total of 25 countries, including Singapore. FinSpy is malware – software programmes that give an operator the ability to observe and control an individual's computer or mobile device – produced by British- German company Gamma International. The news was covered by local Media, but the Government denied using spy software.

• Whilst such tools can be used for legitimate aims, such as controlling bandwidth costs, they also have the functionality to permit filtering, censorship, and surveillance. Given the lack of legal framework in place to ensure the protection of the rights to privacy, the possible presence and use of such technologies is troubling.

Collaboration in mass communication surveillance programmes

• In August 2013, documents published by NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden have revealed Singapore as a key “third party” providing direct and secret access to Malaysia's communication data with the Fives Eyes. Whilst it remains unclear what the role and responsibilities are of 'third parties” to the NSA, it has been reported that the government of Singapore, through stateowned operator, SingTel facilitated access to fibre optic cables passing through its territory.

• This access was provided through the tapping of some internet cables running through Singapore. Internet monitoring is the act of capturing data as it travels across the internet towards its intended destination. It can take place across any point of the infrastructure, depending on what information is trying to be collected.

• Privacy International is concerned that such mass surveillance programmes are contrary to Article 12 of the UDHR and Article 17 of the ICCPR. The alleged role of Singapore as a third party to the Five Eyes extends far beyond principles of legality, legitimacy, proportionality, and necessity that must be considered when interfering with and limiting the right to privacy. Such activities also fail to meet well-established human rights principles of transparency, accountability, due process, and the requirement for independent oversight.

Concluding Remarks

Singapore is a nation that has been fortunate enough to have avoided terror attacks for decades. In recent times, the Government has been taking pro-active steps in order to ensure that the security of the nation stays ahead of those that may wish to do it harm. Some of these measures include rolling out expanded CCTV coverage across the country, which already has extensive police CCTV networks. This may very well be a useful to combating terrorism. The question is, what are the means by which we reach the end goal? At what cost comes our freedom and security?

Related to this question are others:

• Is public security more important than human rights?
• If we allow exceptions to the application of the right to privacy, are we not eroding the foundation of this important human right?
• How do we balance the application of the right to privacy while also ensuring adequate security measures are in place to combat terrorism?

I don’t have the answer to all of these questions. But I believe that part of the solution is to pay adequate heed to international laws, such as the human rights protected under the ICCPR.

I ended my talk with a quote from Thomas Paine :

"He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty, he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself"

After ignoring two police notices to assist in investigations, Amos Yee Pang Sang was arrested yesterday (11 May 2016). When queried by members of the press, the Singapore Police Force said that a 17 year old male was arrested for flouting the Penal Code Article 174 and Article 298.

Police stated that Amos Yee was wanted for posting religiously insensitive comments on the internet about a religion. In December last year, police requested for Amos Yee's assistance but despite the notice, Amos left the country and only returned to Singapore in April.

Upon his return to Singapore, the State Courts issued a Court Order instructing him to the police station but he ignored the Court Order. Investigations are ongoing.

154 MEDIA: MORE MALAY FAMILIES LIVING IN RENTAL FLATS

$
0
0

I refer to the article “More Malay families living in rental flats” (Straits Times, May 11).

It states that “The proportion of Malay families living in one and two-room rented flats has doubled in the last decade, government figures show.

Last year, there were 14,600 households headed by a Malay living in such flats.

This was 10.9 per cent of all Malay-headed households, up from 4.9 per cent – or 5,779 households – in 2005, according to the latest General Household Survey released in March.

The HDB has ramped up the rental flat supply from 42,000 units in 2007 to 53,500, with an aim to boost this to 60,000 by next year.”

23% of the increase in rental flats went to non-Malay families?

Does this mean that about 77 per cent or about 8,821 (14,600 – 5,779) of the increased supply of 11,500 (53,500 – 42,000) rental flats, went to Malay families?

Please note that the above is an estimate as the Malay households data is from 2005 whereas the HDB supply data is from 2007.

Two-thirds of rental flats are non-Malay families?

With regard to “However, Malay households also form a growing proportion of one- and two-room rental households.

They account for almost a third of 45,500 such households, up from about one in six a decade ago.” – Does this mean that about two-thirds (45,500 – 14,600 = 30,900) of one- and two-room rental households are non-Malays?

% of HDB 1 & 2 -room flats increase every year?

In this connection, since the percentage share of HDB 1 & 2-room flats is at its highest in 10 years (2005 – 2015), at 5.6 per cent (increasing gradually every year from the low of 3.9 per cent in 2008 – does it mean that more non-Malay households are also in 1- & 2-room HDB flats?

HDB 1 & 2-room: Only 1.6% p.a. increase in income?

As to “Low-income Malay workers could have been “displaced by cheap immigrant labour” in jobs such as cleaning, she said.

Among AMP’s family services clients, insufficient Central Provident Fund savings – due to unemployment or ad-hoc jobs – was the most common reason for living in a rental flat, accounting for 86 per cent” – the real change in average monthly household income from work per household member among resident employed households by type of dwelling 2005 -2015 – for HDB 1 & 2-room flats was only 1.6 per cent per annum.

What about “excluding employer CPF contribution”?

Moreover, the data is “including employer CPF contribution”. Is the annualised increase even lower than 1.6 per cent “excluding employer CPF”?

I understand that it used to be that the household income statistics were also given “excluding employer CPF contribution”

HEARTBROKEN MUM LOSES HER IPHONE IN WESTGATE, PLEADS FOR THIEF TO RETURN IT

<Facebook shoutout by Gisele Chen>

Dear friends,

I lost my phone yesterday, and am hoping to look for my lost phone through social media, as it contains all my kids' memories within the year. Appreciate if you can help to share my post so that it can reach as many parents as possible. Thank you in advance. (Sorry for the long post)

I lost my iphone 6 at the Westgate Level 4 nursing room (next to the Wonderland) around 1.30-1.40pm on 11 May 2016. I left it on the nursing room chair, and took the escalator down. I realised that I forgot my phone while on the escalator down. Within a short span of few minutes (walking to escalator, going down by one level, and going back up), my phone is taken by another parent(s) and immediately switched off.

To the parent(s) who pick up my iphone 6: To you, it is a gain of few hundred dollars. To me, the lost cannot be measured in monetary sense, as it contains all the memories of my girl and twinnie boys since birth to now. I admit that i'm not diligent in backing up my data, that's why not a single photo was backed up. It contains all the precious memories of my boys, all the first time I saw them achieve their development milestones (first flip, first sit up, first crawl, first step, first time calling "mama").

I'm a full time working mum, and did not get to enjoy the thrill of first discovering them achieving their milestones. However, I took the photos/videos of them doing it as memories. These photos/videos may mean nothing at all to others, but to me it means the world to me. These are what fueled me going everyday, when I'm away from my kids and working.

As a fellow parent, I hope you can feel my pain in the lost. As a fellow parent, I hope you can understand the pain in losing all the precious memories, memories that I cannot rewind and retake again. I am appealing to you, as a desperate mum, to return the iphone 6 back to the Westgate Concierge, so that they can contact me to get back my memories. Please.....

A heartbroken mum

PAP HATER ASKS FOR BY-ELECTION AFTER HENG'S STROKE, K SHANMUGAM RIPS INTO HIM

Dear ASS Editors,

After news broke that Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat had suffered a stroke and collapsed during a Cabinet Meeting, Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam shared that Heng had been overworking due to his incredible workload helming the Finance Ministry and other important projects.

On Minister Shanmugam's Facebook was a presumably Opposition supporter Raymond Tan who asked "If Heng Swee Keat dies, will there be a by election. Just curious".

Responding to what he deemed a highly inappropriate statement, K Shanmugam gave the netizen a smackdown and called him being without compassion and someone who did know know between right and wrong.

Shanmugam replied: "Raymond tan, i don't know what sort of person you are. Have no sense of compassion and what is right and what is wrong ? To ask about whether there will be by-election in the circumstances you mention (I can't even bring myself to repeat your words?) Are these words people will even use? Do you not think about his wife and children? I feel sick."

Not to be cowed by Shanmugam's strong choice of words, Raymond Tan responded with a few smart replies of his own which angered fellow Singaporeans. He said:

"Well u cant deny there is such a possibility right? Be rational. Why shd u be so emotional?"

"All of u are too emotional. Lol"

"U guys are just afraid to face the possibility that he may die. Escapist mindset."

"A bunch of wayang bootlicking clowns."

Just before Raymond signed off, he exited with a splash and hinted he would be celebrating should Heng Swee Keat die. "Good night. I am preparing my champagne"

If this is the standard of Opposition politics, this is the true Gutter Politics. Post this if you are a fair ASS.

BEWARE! UNETHICAL PHONE REPAIR SHOP IN TOA PAYOH DESTROYED MY IPHONE

Dear Editors,

Phone Repair Shop Destroys iPhone Instead. BEWARE OF THIS MOBILE PHONE SHOP IN TOA PAYOH. I was having some problems with my iPhone - the screen was stuck at the apple logo. So on 12/5/16 at 9am, I visited a shop called '66 Connexion' at Block 190 Toa Payoh Lor 6 #01-558.

At first, I was looking for an external battery charger for a spare sony ericsson phone that I had. However, the shop did not sell the battery that I needed, and the charger that they had did not work on the battery in my spare phone. So I decided to ask the guy (called JK Ng) in the shop to repair my iPhone. He claimed that he would fix the phone for me. He kept persuading me to leave my phone with him and come back after my work to collect it.

I then left, but I returned less than 10 minutes later because I decided that I wanted to let him repair it after I ended work instead. He kept telling me to come back in 30 minutes because he had stuff to do. He didn't allow me to take my phone back, claiming that he already changed his own battery inside my iphone. But it was weird and shady because I only left for 10 min and I was very nearby, I didn't see him touch my phone at all, which was left at the cash register when I left. That means it supposedly took him much less than 10 min to take out my battery, hide my battery in the storeroom , then put my phone back together. But he kept insisting that he changed the battery.

I let him open the phone. The battery was tightly stuck to the phone as it was the original battery. He scolded vulgarities at me the entire time while forcefully using a screwdriver to take out my battery. This damaged the entire battery and it looked visibly crumpled. He then went into his storeroom to bring out another battery that probably wasn't working because my phone couldn't start up at all. Before he started changing the batteries i could still see the apple logo. After he changed it , i couldnt even turn on the screen and he kept telling me that i just needed to charge it which wasnt true cause my battery was definitely full last night

While he was changing the battery I saw him poke at something on my phone. I only found out that he poked a hole and spoilt my lcd screen and front camera after having my phone checked by somebody who actually knows how to repair phones. After he put his battery in, he didn't demonstrate to me that the phone was working. I tried to turn it on myself but it didn't work. He then told me that my phone is fixed and asked me to leave his shop.

It seemed like he only changed my phone's battery as an excuse to damage my phone further and also to change my battery (for whatever reason) which was working fine in the first place.
